Founded in 1911 in Boquete - Panama’s renowned coffee-growing region - Mama Cata is one of the country’s oldest and most respected coffee estates. The farm became part of the Garrido family in the mid-1970s when Teodoro Garrido acquired the land and chose to preserve its original name in honor of the previous owner, Catalina Fitchet. Today, the estate is managed by his daughters, Liliana and Gissell Garrido, who continue to safeguard the family legacy while pursuing a commitment to producing exceptional lots of coffee.
Nestled alongside legendary estates such as Hacienda La Esmeralda and Elida Estate, Mama Cata benefits from ideal altitude, fertile volcanic soil, and the cool mountain climate unique to Boquete. These natural conditions foster coffees with pronounced sweetness, crystalline clarity, and complex structure. The farm consistently ranks in the Top 10 at the Best of Panama competition in categories such as Geisha Washed, Geisha Natural, and Varietal - testament to decades of expertise in cultivation and processing.
